The Tasmanian Council of Adult Literacy (TCAL), supported by the Department of State Growth, Libraries Tasmania and 26TEN, have developed a suite of adult literacy tutor training videos. TCAL has been working on a Workforce Development Grant Project since 2019 and these videos are a product of that and an excellent collaboration and creation of local resources.
The first video was launched on Thursday the 8th September, 2022 at the Hobart Library. It is one of a series of 8 short videos that demonstrates a range of contemporary, evidence-based activities recommended for adult, one-on-one literacy tutor training.
Tasmania Libraries’ Senior Literacy Advisor curated the content, led a working group and dedicated time to creating accompanying Tutor Tip Sheets. These resources will be used in the Libraries Tasmania Adult Literacy Service by Literacy Coordinators and adult literacy and numeracy tutors. They will also be freely available online for use in the wider adult literacy sector.
